DermOnline community and teleconsultation service
telederm.org is a unique medical application whereby dermatologists, general
practitioners or any healthcare workers interested in teledermatology can
discuss interesting and unusual cases in clinical dermatology, dermatopathology
and dermoscopy or can easily seek from a pool of expert consultants
diagnostic
advice regarding dermatological issues and items.
The telederm.org project was conceived in 2002 by H. Peter Soyer and colleagues
with the contribution of the Department of Dermatology of the Medical University
of Graz. This service is aimed in order to exchange knowledge and expertise on a
worldwide level with the goal of creating a DermOnline Community.
telederm.org is completely free of charge and the site does not host or
receive funding from advertising.
The teleconsultation-service is based on the transmission of digital images from
the users to the telederm.org application: every user can submit clinical,
dermatopathologic or dermoscopic cases to the forum “discussion cases”, visible
to all users who can review the cases and submit on-line opinions, or can send a
request to a selected expert. So, the interaction remains in the latter case in
a private field.
Only physicians or healthcare workers are able to register and access the
application.
The information provided on this site is designed to support, not replace,
the relationship that exists between a patient/site visitor and his/her existing
physician. Confidentiality of data relating to individual patients, users and
visitors to telederm.org, including their identity, is respected by this Web
site. telederm.org undertakes to honour the legal requirements of medical/health
information privacy that are applied in Austria.
telederm.org does not undertake any kind of legal responsibility for the
consultations.
